Want to know how to treat yourself better? It starts with a little PDA. I’m serious!
Hi, I’m Stacey Storino from Woman-101. Ah, PDA. Public displays of affection. We can figure out very quickly what that looks like when a couple is involved. But PDA for Y-O-U? Seriously, that’s a thing.
What do you do out in public that shows others that you even like yourself, or respect yourself, or that you’re in a happy, healthy, smart and strong relationship with yourself? If you feel people treat you poorly, remember: you teach others how to treat you! So how to treat yourself better to teach others the lesson, too?
Ask yourself: Do you walk tall and strong, head up, back straight, chest open, to illustrate confidence? Do you smile to project happiness and openness to life…like, ever? Do you leave the house looking like you even attempted to brush your hair, keep your skin clean and perhaps groom a little bit, so that if you’re not doing full-on makeup, you at least have a “five-minute face” going on?
Do you dress in clean clothes that are shaped well or even tailored for the body and size that you currently possess? Your clothes aren’t pilled, sagging, unintentionally shrunken or ripped, or God help you, stained…are they? Do the heels on your shoes need to be replaced because they’re worn down or breaking off?
Closet purges and other “spring cleaning” may very well be in order. Shoes may need to be re-heeled or replaced. Haircuts or color touch-ups may be overdue. Stop falling out of integrity with your skincare regimen and attempt a five-minute face; why not?
BUT you’ve got to do a spring-cleaning of your inner thoughts and outward mannerisms, too. When you walk around slouched, eyes downcast, never cracking a smile and making it obvious through what you wear and otherwise how you behave that you’re down on yourself and on life in general, keep in mind–you’re hardly going to attract solutions to your problems that way. You’ll certainly make it harder to attract positive thoughts…or even positive people…into your life.
Remember: Your vibe attracts your tribe. It’s time to turn your self-care AND self-image into a statement you make both to yourself and to the universe that you believe in yourself and love yourself and that great things are coming your way because you believe that. When you take better care of your mind and body, people see it. They feel it, too. You’re sending the message to others that you love and respect yourself through such self-PDA whenever you show you love and respect your body and your looks. While people can’t see the thoughts inside your mind, you’ll likely attract them into relationships with you, where you can take those thoughts and put them into words and actions. And folks will love you as much as you love yourself. But you must show your self-love for others to get that picture in the first place.
